Notre Dame Visiting Xavier Nwankpa on Thursday
Notre Dame's staff will be in Iowa to see one of the nation's top prospects.
Note on Xavier Nwankpa
I'm told Notre Dame has reached out to 2022 S Xavier Nwankpa after last night's staff announcements. Notre Dame and Nwankpa had virtually no contact since Freeman and O'Leary went out for his State Title game a few weeks ago. I wouldn't say that was due to the Notre Dame staff as it's clear these guys are going to fight for every inch in recruiting. Nwankpa has a decision date set for Dec. 8th, so I'm not sure much will change between now and then, but Freeman being locked in long-term is a positive. Will it be enough for Nwankpa to do a 180 on Notre Dame? I'm not sure, but Freeman and company are still swinging, which is all you can ask for at this stage.
Notre Dame expected to evaluate 2022 S
With 2022 Southeast Polk (Iowa) safety Xavier Nwankpa trending to Iowa, Notre Dame is expected to check in on 2022 Walled Lake Western (Mich.) safety Koen Entringer on Monday. I also expect 2022 Benicia (Calif.) safety Croix Stewart to stick with his pledge to UCLA at the moment. Stewart was a prospect Chris O'Leary went to check on during the bye week. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has seen his recruitment take off over the last month as Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Utah, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin have offered. Entringer decommitted from Central Michigan on November 9th and his recruitment is wide open as the new offers roll in. The Michigan native holds a 3.66 GPA and had a big senior season with 88 tackles, 444 receiving yards, six touchdowns, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interceptions and two kickoff return touchdowns. Entringer is a big kid and he can fly on film. I would imagine Notre Dame would love to see him workout to verify his speed, but he's an impressive athlete. One thing to keep in mind is Notre Dame is high on its DB class as it stands, but adding a true safety would be icing on the cake. Safety depth is an area that can improve and if Entringer runs like he does on film, I think he falls into that category. RankingISD: N/R247: 86 (three-star)Rivals: 5.2.
