Official Visit Notes on Two 2022 Safety Prospects
2022 Buford (Ga.) safety Jake Pope will be at Notre Dame for his official visit June 11-13th. This is good news for Notre Dame as Pope released a Top 8 of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Ohio State last week. Obviously, three of those schools won't get official visits, so the Irish locking in one is significant. Notre Dame was one of the first "big" offers for Pope and I think that's something that's stuck with him over the course of his recruitment. If I had to guess, I'd lean towards Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State being the top competition right now, but we'll see. 2022 Oscar Smith (Va.) safety Sherrod Covil Jr. tells me June 25-27th is the weekend he's looking at to get his official visit in. I'm not 100% sure it's completely locked in and it might be due to Notre Dame waiting it out. I think there are a few other names higher on the board right now and the staff likely wants to wait a little bit longer. However, that doesn't mean the Irish staff isn't still on Covil as he's really enjoyed building a relationship with Chris O'Leary over the last few months.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
