The Latest | 2026 LB Tank King
At this point, I'm not expecting 2026 Port Arthur Memorial (Texas) linebacker Tank King to take his official visit to Notre Dame. The four-star backer is fresh off his official visit to Texas A&M and I think the Aggies will likely win this due to a situation outside of Notre Dame's control. I believe playing closer to home has become a priority for King in recent months after wanting to leave the state for college. As it relates to Notre Dame, three linebackers in 2026 was a luxury so they are fine with Thomas Davis Jr. and Jakobe Clapper in this class to follow Madden Faraimo, Anthony Sacca and Ko'o Kia in 2025. I think Notre Dame will continue to be open to another linebacker, but they'll be very picky unless there is a significant injury or someone hits the portal in the fall. Couple of Recruiting Notes
- 2026 Kahuku (Hawaii) linebacker Talanoa Ili has been on the board for a while, but that's changed in recent days. Ili will not take his official visit, and I believe Notre Dame is the one that made the move, as USC has been in pole position for the last month or so. Ili was at USC over the weekend for an official visit, and considering the fact that he's never been to campus and how much room the Irish have to make up, it's likely a smart move not to waste either side's time at this point. - 2027 West (Utah) quarterback Kamden Lopati is currently on campus for camp. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder made a visit to Notre Dame in the spring and then Guidugli made the trip to Utah to see him during May. 2028 First Baptist (Fla.) quarterback Brady Quinn is also back on campus for camp on Monday. He took a visit earlier this spring and Notre Dame is in a good position with him if they offer. 2026 Bryant (Ark.) receiver Kamauri Austin is also working out for Notre Dame today. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder committed to Appalachian State on June 1st. Same high school as former Notre Dame running back commit Daniel Anderson. 2027 William B Travis (Texas) safety Joshua Vimael is also working out. He holds offers from Maryland, Oklahoma State and Oregon State. - I'm not sure he's camping but 2027 Mount Carmel (Ill.) safety Tavares Harrington is at Notre Dame today. The Irish offered earlier this spring. - 2026 Liberty Hill (Texas) defensive lineman Alister Vallejo is fresh off his official visit to Kansas and I'm not sure a decision has been made ahead of Tuesday's announcement at this point. Notre Dame appears to be the one constant here as Kansas or Michigan are the other teams to watch depending who you speak with. - 2026 Port Arthur Memorial (Texas) linebacker Tank King has had Notre Dame in the lead at various points in his recruitment. He hasn't been to Notre Dame since November so it's opened the door for other programs to make a move as King made several spring visits in addition to his June officials. Texas A&M hosted him over the weekend and it appears the Aggies now are in pole position here. We'll see what happens in the coming days as it's very clear Notre Dame has his attention, but also those around him.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Notre Dame and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Notre Dame and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
