Top 2027 LB Ellis McGaskin Blown Away By Notre Dame Visit
2027 Alabama linebacker Ellis McGaskin? made his first trip to South Bend for Irish Invasion and came away blown away by the culture and the people, especially with Marcus Freeman and Max Bullough.

The Latest | 2027 LB Recruiting
Four 2027 linebackers with Notre Dame offers made their way to campus on Friday for Irish Invasion. I have some notes on three of them following camp. - Cooper Witten made his second trip to South Bend this spring and that speaks volumes. Multiple sources believe Notre Dame is setting a high bar in his recruitment. Witten's father, Jason, joined him on the first visit and was present again today. It's still early in his recruitment, but I think Notre Dame is in as strong of a position as anyone right now. - Garyon Hobbs got his first look at Notre Dame on Friday. The Kentucky native loved Max Bullough's coaching style and was also impressed with campus. He took part in the BBQ following camp and felt very comfortable with those around him. I would expect him to be back on campus in the fall at some point. - Ellis McGaskin was almost at a loss for words as Notre Dame exceeded his expectations by a mile. I'm not sure I've heard a recruit rave about Bullough as much as McGaskin. The four-star prospect was also speechless when Marcus Freeman spoke and made time for him. He even admitted he was more nervous to talk to Freeman than Jason Witten. I think Notre Dame is in a very strong position here. Long way to go, but McGaskin made it clear he had no issues leaving the state of Alabama for college. Overall, I would not be surprised if Notre Dame leads for McGaskin and Witten as of June 6, 2025 - but there's a long way to go here. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Comfort Colors Mascot Overlay T-Shirt

Weekend Recruiting Notes
Just base with several sources over the last few hours....- 2026 Winter Park (Fla.) defensive back Ayden Pouncey was on campus this weekend. While it was his first visit, the family is familiar with Notre Dame as his older brother, Jordan, was once committed to Brian Kelly. Notre Dame had work to do going into the visit and some don't believe the visit moved the needle too much for Pouncey. Would I count Mike Mickens out? No, but at the same time, many Florida kids fall in love with Midwestern schools quickly and I'm not sure that was the case here. - 2026 Myers Park (N.C.) defensive end Rodney Dunham made his return to campus and Notre Dame knocked it out of the park. As mentioned earlier today, it wouldn't be a complete shock if the Irish were in the lead for him coming out of the visit. Dunham and Bryce Young have really connected so that could be significant down the line. - 2026 Bergen Catholic (N.J.) cornerback Jordan Thomas made his second visit to Notre Dame, but the first as a recruit. It appears Notre Dame will be in the race, but at this point, I'm not sure any schools feel completely confident they lead for the four-star prospect. The next for both sides will be locking in an official visit. - 2026 Great Bend (Kans.) tight end Ian Premer was on campus and I believe this was his first time visiting. It appears Notre Dame will be a contender for the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder following the visit. Premer has officials set with Kansas and Kansas State at the moment and I expect Notre Dame to get one locked in sooner than later. - 2027 Brother Rice (Ill.) defensive lineman Brayden Parks returned to campus and he had some firepower with him. Chris Zorich, his godfather, and Tony Jones Sr., a family relative, joined Parks and his family on the visit. In talking to a couple sources, I believe Notre Dame has the early lead here. - 2027 Liberty Christian (Texas) linebacker Cooper Witten took Notre Dame in for the first time over the weekend. Witten was joined by his father, Jason, and they took in Saturday's practice. The Irish laid out the red carpet and it's safe to say Notre Dame made a significant move with everyone in the Witten family. Witten might be from Texas and have the in-state offers and a dad who played for the Vols, but don't write Notre Dame off. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 24oz. Replay Powder Coat Tumbler

Recruiting Visits Picking Up
Notre Dame has been working behind the scenes since the National Title game and now they'll get to see some of the rewards of the hard work as several top targets will be making their way to campus. The Irish will start spring practice on Wednesday and they'll be opening the door for several of the nation's top prospects. Two of the nation's best at their respective positions will be on campus Wednesday. 2026 running back Javian Osborne will get his first look at Notre Dame and 2026 cornerback Joey O'Brien will get to experience campus for like the 20th time. 2027 Illinois quarterback Jameson Purcell will return for practice and Notre Dame will also host 2027 Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) tight end JT Geraci will visit campus. Geraci holds offers from Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, Vandy and Virginia Tech. On Friday, Notre Dame will host an impressive group of 2026 and 2027 prospects. 2026 Bergen Catholic (N.J.) cornerback Jordan Thomas will make his awaited visit to campus. The four-star prospect was one of Notre Dame's first offers but has never quite held the Irish in high regard as others from his high school. 2026 Myers Park (N.C.) defensive end Rodney Dunham is also expected on campus Friday. The Irish are firmly in the mix and this will be a big visit for both sides. Dunham will return on June 14th for an official visit. 2026 Kansas tight end Ian Premer was offered this winter and he'll be on campus for the first time. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder has set officials to Kansas and Kansas State, so this could go a long way in securing one for the Irish. 2027 linebacker Cooper Witten will get his first look at Notre Dame on Friday. He's the son of Jason Witten, and we know Notre Dame's presence with NFL dads. He's an elite prospect and an early visit is good news for Notre Dame. 2027 defensive tackle Deven Robertson will make the trip to South Bend from Mississippi. Notre Dame needs more size on the interior and Robertson has a big-time frame. Like Witten, Robertson added his offer from the Irish on Monday. 2027 Carmel Catholic (Ill.) quarterback Trae Taylor is also expected on Friday. On Saturday, Notre Dame will host one of the best football players in the country in 2027 Blessed Trinity Catholic (Ga.) defensive end David Jacobs Jr. He'll also be with his brother, Dawson Jacobs, who will be a Power 4 prospect. 2027 Boyle County (Ky.) tight end Seneca Driver will get a look at Notre Dame after earning his Pot of Gold Day offer. The last time Notre Dame recruited Boyle County, it didn't end so well as Landon Bartleson never made it campus. Want the latest scoop on the Fighting Irish? National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
