A few recruiting notes
- In talking to multiple folks today, I don't get a feeling any of the 2026 commits are flight risks at this point. It's a very, very close group and they've bonded extremely well over the last few months. Notre Dame has routinely brought its commits and top targets to the 50-yard line for warmups. On Saturday, they added a touch and took a group photo of all the commits minus Devin Fitzgerald and Ian Premer, who both were a little late. - When it comes to some of the uncommitted prospects, I'm not getting a vibe that the loss impacted them too much in terms of how these kids and their families view Notre Dame. Now, if the Irish start piling up losses, it's going to change recruiting a bit. But keep in mind, they don't live and die with every play. They witnessed a great game and a great atmosphere. Notre Dame did a great job of creating a big game atmosphere and that's one of the biggest improvements they've made over the last few years. And for the record, our former colleague Carter Karels, who covers Texas A&M now, but worked at the South Bend Tribune for a few years, mentioned the atmosphere is better compared to when he left in 2021. Several parents mentioned how great of a time they had and how Notre Dame recruits the right way. There were a ton of high-priority targets, and the staff was able to spend quality time with each one at some point. Really good effort by the recruiting personnel staff and the coaches to impress as many parents and recruits. That matters. - As far as individual recruits in 2027 and 2028, I think Notre Dame made a positive move with several. I don't think the big picture goal was secure commitments this weekend, but it was about getting kids back or on campus for the first time to provide another data point. That said, I do believe Notre Dame is much more in it with 2027 five-star defensive end David Jacobs Jr. and 2028 future five-star defensive end Jackson Vaughn than people think. Both had very good visits this weekend and most importantly, saw how they fit into the program. - 2027 receiver Tyler Fryman earned an offer following camp in June, and he spent time with both football and baseball on Saturday. He's currently committed to Louisville, but the Irish are making sure he gets all the information he needs on both programs. - Overall, I like where Notre Dame stands coming out of the weekend despite the loss. Now, they just have to stack some wins and everything will be well. Under Armour Navy Notre Dame Fighting Irish Motivate Quarter-Zip

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
