McHale Blade commits to Michigan
Not necessarily a surprise that it's not Notre Dame as the Irish had been trending away from Blade for a few months. Notre Dame has some worthwhile concerns about his injury history. Blade tore his ACL as a sophomore and missed his entire junior campaign, but I get the feeling there is concern there from other schools and not just Notre Dame. That's why I've been somewhat down on Notre Dame's pursuit of Blade for a few months. The staff started to swing the other way coming out of the winter. In talking to sources around the country, Blade is considered a major project. He could hit huge, but also someone who needs time to hit that ceiling. There's a lot to work with there, but it all comes down to him showing he's healthy now and then continuing that trend. I do think if Blade wanted to commit to Notre Dame, they would have taken him. That said, I think they were fine with him in the class and also fine with him going elsewhere. It speaks volumes about where Notre Dame's defensive line recruiting is as losing Blade would have been a major blow in previous years, but the Irish are in a great spot with Elijah Golden and then Alister Vallejo will make his college decision tomorrow between Notre Dame, Kansas and Michigan. Couple of Recruiting Notes
- 2026 Kahuku (Hawaii) linebacker Talanoa Ili has been on the board for a while, but that's changed in recent days. Ili will not take his official visit, and I believe Notre Dame is the one that made the move, as USC has been in pole position for the last month or so. Ili was at USC over the weekend for an official visit, and considering the fact that he's never been to campus and how much room the Irish have to make up, it's likely a smart move not to waste either side's time at this point. - 2027 West (Utah) quarterback Kamden Lopati is currently on campus for camp. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder made a visit to Notre Dame in the spring and then Guidugli made the trip to Utah to see him during May. 2028 First Baptist (Fla.) quarterback Brady Quinn is also back on campus for camp on Monday. He took a visit earlier this spring and Notre Dame is in a good position with him if they offer. 2026 Bryant (Ark.) receiver Kamauri Austin is also working out for Notre Dame today. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder committed to Appalachian State on June 1st. Same high school as former Notre Dame running back commit Daniel Anderson. 2027 William B Travis (Texas) safety Joshua Vimael is also working out. He holds offers from Maryland, Oklahoma State and Oregon State. - I'm not sure he's camping but 2027 Mount Carmel (Ill.) safety Tavares Harrington is at Notre Dame today. The Irish offered earlier this spring. - 2026 Liberty Hill (Texas) defensive lineman Alister Vallejo is fresh off his official visit to Kansas and I'm not sure a decision has been made ahead of Tuesday's announcement at this point. Notre Dame appears to be the one constant here as Kansas or Michigan are the other teams to watch depending who you speak with. - 2026 Port Arthur Memorial (Texas) linebacker Tank King has had Notre Dame in the lead at various points in his recruitment. He hasn't been to Notre Dame since November so it's opened the door for other programs to make a move as King made several spring visits in addition to his June officials. Texas A&M hosted him over the weekend and it appears the Aggies now are in pole position here. We'll see what happens in the coming days as it's very clear Notre Dame has his attention, but also those around him.

The Latest | 2026 DL Alister Vallejo
Just caught up with 2026 defensive lineman Alister Vallejo following his visit to Notre Dame. The No. 1 piece that stood out to him? Notre Dame's culture. Vallejo highlighted what he saw, what he was told and experienced in terms of culture, which was all positive. It was very clear he gravitated toward the way Marcus Freeman structures the program and how Al Washington runs the defensive line room. Vallejo was also impressed with how Notre Dame can blend football with its academics. As far as his commitment next week, Vallejo is in decision mode so my guess is he'll make that decision sooner rather than later. All the schools recruiting him would prefer sooner rather than later, as they need to set up official visits with other players if they miss out, and that includes Notre Dame as they've gone all in on Vallejo over the last few weeks. I did as Vallejo if Notre Dame's recruiting momentum in Texas mattes to him and he said it doesn't impact him either way. He admitted it was comforting to know there would be kids with backgrounds similar to his own on campus, but it didn't factor into his decision at all. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/18058829/673c266d0e785b1af620065bReyn Spooner Kelly Green Notre Dame Fighting Irish Classic Button-Up
