Elite 2020 DE Eliminates Notre Dame
2020 Garfield (Wash.) defensive end Sav'ell Smalls released his Top 12 on Sunday and Notre Dame was not included. The four-star prospect will choose between Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M. Washington and Washington State. Notre Dame had sent coaches out to Seattle in the last few weeks but it was always going to be long shot for the Irish as he had taken several unofficial visits to the East Coast and never visited Notre Dame.

Lyght Heading Out To Recruit
Look for Todd Lyght to hit his usual area in the Pacific Northwest this week as the Irish coaches get back on the road.Lyght will undoubtedly check in on some of the top 2020 targets in the state of Washington over the next couple of days, including OL Geirean Hatchett, LB Sav'ell Smalls and WR Gee Scott. The Irish look to have a pretty good shot at Hatchett, who visited over the summer, but the competition will be stiff.Smalls is a truly elite prospect with offers from just about everybody. His interest in Notre Dame is legit and I do believe he's serious about visiting. His coach is a big Todd Lyght fan so that helps, but he'll have everyone coming after him.Scott committed to Ohio State a little while ago, but I think he's still somewhat open, at least open to being recruited. I think Del Alexander will join Lyght on that visit. Notre Dame has a lot to offer Scott and he's an elite talent, so it's probably worth the effort to continue going after him.Lyght will surely check in on Scott's teammates at Eastside Catholic like 2020 RB Sam Adams and 2020 TE DJ Rogers.I also expect to see a couple new names emerge from that part of the country this week as well.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.
