2020 safety officially off the board
2020 Lufkin (Texas) safety Jerrin Thompson just announced his commitment to Texas a few minutes ago. The four-star prospect had been committed to Texas for about two weeks. We reported he was in Austin for an unofficial visit a few days following his offer and Thompson left committed. Notre Dame offered Thompson in the spring, but weren't ready to accept his commitment in June as he was very likely to commit to the Irish if they let him take his official visit in June as he wanted to commit the first week of July. Texas is recruiting him for a different role than most programs who have offered him and I believe that's why they were OK with taking his pledge now as some programs have concerns about size and range.

Quick note on 2020 S target Jerrin Thompson
Just caught up with a source in Texas and 2020 Lufkin (Texas) safety Jerrin Thompson is currently in Austin on an unofficial visit. The four-star prospect was offered by Texas last week and many feel the Longhorns are in the driver's seat with the offer. I did ask a source if they felt Thompson would leave Texas committed and was told "possibly." As it relates to Notre Dame, the Irish wanted Thompson to take an official in the fall and it was likely he would end up in South Bend at some point for that visit. Obviously, the Texas offer and visit change a few things in relation to that. Will keep you posted if I hear anything more. National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Irish Sports Daily rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Irish Sports Daily Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Irish Sports Daily readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Notre Dame and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Notre Dame and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
