2021 OL Rocco Spindler Looking Forward To Notre Dame Return
Rocco Spindler is hoping to visit a lot of schools this fall. In fact, the 2021 Michigan offensive lineman would have visited a lot of schools this month had it not been for an extended dead period.
“I would love to make a trip out to Notre Dame, but this stupid dead period,” Spindler told Irish Sports Daily.
The Clarkston High School standout has offers from several top programs, including Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Pitt, Penn State, Alabama, LSU, Wisconsin and Nebraska among several others.
He already has plans to get to the Notre Dame-USC game in October and would welcome the chance to get there even sooner.
“I want to build relationships with the other coaches besides Coach (Jeff) Quinn to see how they interact with the players,” the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder said. “I’d like to spend time one-on-one with those coaches.”
He said he’s also eager to see Notre Dame’s new indoor facility.
“I’d love to go take a look at that,” he said. “I definitely have my eye on that and then just really getting to see how Coach Quinn interacts with his offensive linemen. I’d like to just see his coaching style, maybe watch film with him and just see how he coaches.”
He does have a positive impression of Notre Dame after visiting for a game last fall.
“It’s so historic and so many great offensive linemen have come out of there already and paved the way,” said Spindler. “I’d definitely want to be a part of that. It’s a great school, the education and the networking, I know there are a lot of great things that come out of Notre Dame just besides football.”
He will be at Michigan for the Wolverines’ BBQ this Saturday and has several other schools he’d like to get to in the future.
“I’d love to take a visit out to LSU, Ohio State for sure, Michigan State, Pitt, Alabama, soon Clemson is they get on the board, Oklahoma and Georgia, those schools,” he said.
Spindler doesn’t have a timeline for a decision and certainly doesn’t want to rush anything.
“I want to have one decision that’s the right decision, so I don’t know, maybe the end of this coming year, maybe May after my schoolyear or maybe the start of my senior year, but I really want to have it done my junior year.”
