The very first time I attended The Opening Finals was in 2014. That was also the first time I had the opportunity to see Shaun Crawford compete in person.

Two things stood out about him:

1) He was just as tiny as I expected him to be.

2) His twitch as an athlete and instincts in coverage showed why his size was something he was going to overcome in college.

At that time almost every short defensive back seemed to get compared to former LSU star Tyrann “The Honey Badger” Mathieu. It was an unfair comparison for most because of what Mathieu accomplished.
