Robert Regan‍ made the trip out to Notre Dame back in June and the 2021 California cornerback is glad he did.

“It went well,” the 6-foot, 170-pounder said. “The academics seemed really good up there. I saw the whole campus, they showed us everything.”

The Orange Lutheran High School standout liked the old, yet new feel of the campus in South Bend.

“It wasn’t old, but it seemed old-fashioned kind of,” he said.

Regan had a chance to spend plenty of time with the Notre Dame coaching staff.

“I met almost all of the coaches,” he explained. “They also talked about academics too. They said they’d pay attention to me next year to see how I do.

“They seemed really nice and outgoing.”

Regan would like to return to South Bend and hopes to keep in touch with the Irish coaches moving forward.

He already has double-digit scholarship offers from schools like Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, BYU and Florida among others.

“It gives me a lot of options, so that’s nice,” said Regan.

He said coaches like the way he moves on the field.

Regan made another stop while he was in the Midwest in June.

“I took a visit to Wisconsin after the Notre Dame one. It’s really nice out there, not just the school, but everything around it, the city.”

It’s too early for Regan to have a clear picture of the greatest factors to his decision, but Notre Dame certainly made a solid initial impression.
