Mitch Miles‍ made his first trip to a Notre Dame football game on Saturday and the 2021 Pennsylvania offensive lineman was impressed.

“It was an amazing experience,” Miles said. “An amazing experience is the best way to describe it.

“The community and the excitement that surrounds the game and the Player Walk and the facilities. Everything was first class.”

The 6-foot-4, 297-pounder was also impressed with the campus in South Bend.

“I liked it because it was a small-college feel for a major university,” he explained. “I thought it was neat how everything was right there and accessible to all of the athletic facilities and that stuff.

“I thought the weight room was really impressive. I could see myself spending a lot of time in there. The amount of people there surrounding the facilities and to guide us and talk to us and tell us the history and tradition was really neat.”

The New Castle, Penn., native also learned about the different academic programs offered at Notre Dame.

“That was really interesting,” he said.

The Laurel High School standout was also impressed with the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium during the Irish’s 66-14 win over New Mexico.

“The student section was better than any I’ve seen anywhere else I’ve been,” he said. “That was an amazing turnout for a student section for an opener against an unranked opponent. It was a packed stadium. That was really cool.”

He visited Pitt last weekend and is looking at trips to Duke and Michigan State among others in the coming weeks.

Miles doesn’t have any offers yet, but is receiving interest from major programs of late and believes some could be close. He recently landed on Notre Dame’s radar and had some back-and-forth with the staff prior to this weekend’s visit.

“It’s been a really good experience to get involved with talking to them,” he said. “They’ve said they’re watching these first four games and looking to see how things develop.

“To see the type of athletes that they have and to know that they’re considering me, it’s a humbling experience and a great honor just to be involved in that process.”
