Notre Dame Added "A Good One" In 2020 PF Elijah Taylor
The Notre Dame men’s basketball program got a little bigger on Thursday evening, when Elijah Taylor publicly announced his commitment to the Irish.
And, if you ask anybody around the program, it got a lot better with the addition of the 2020 Philadelphia power forward too.
We spoke with one source connected to the program who referred to the 6-foot-8, 230-pounder as “a flat-out winner.”
Taylor is part of an Imhotep Institute Charter High School squad that is consistently among the national rankings.
“Guy that is really committed to both ends of the floor that plays exceptionally hard,” the source said of Taylor. “He is going to bring toughness, athleticism, and a will to win to this team.”
One of the things that sold Taylor on Notre Dame over schools like Florida, Seton Hall, VCU and Pittsburgh among others was the opportunity to play right away and this source sees that as a very realistic possibility.
“His body will be ready to handle our league as a freshman where he will be able to make an impact right away with his tenancy and activity,” the source said. “He can play above the rim, seek out of area rebounds, and defend multiple positions due to his quickness and strength.”
Following Taylor’s announcement, Imhotep associate head coach Tahar Sutton reached out to ISD to say, “The Irish faithful is gonna love Elijah for the next four years and beyond!!!”
Our source in South Bend agreed.
“He will be a good one.”
