Sam Martin‍ is just a sophomore, but he’s already caught the attention of several major programs.

The 2022 New York running back has eight offers and is on the radar of many other big schools, including Notre Dame, which is why he was in South Bend for the Irish’s win over Virginia on Saturday.

“It went great,” the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder said. “I liked everything. Just the people around.

“Campus was great. They have really nice facilities.”

The Staten Island standout also had an opportunity to speak with Irish running backs coach Lance Taylor.

“He said he liked my film and liked what I did and he sees me in the offense,” Martin said of Taylor’s message.

“That felt great.”

The Curtis High School prospect plans on staying in touch with the staff in South Bend moving forward.

“Hopefully we build a connection over a few months going into my junior year,” he said.

Martin added that he would “definitely” like to return to South Bend.

He doesn’t have any other visits planned at the moment, but his offer sheet includes schools like Rutgers, Syracuse, Purdue, Tennessee and Wake Forest among others.

“It feels great, but I’ve got to keep working,” Martin said of the early offers.
