ISD Game Predictions: Bowling Green

It’s that time again.  The 3-1 Irish are looking to add another to the win column this weekend as they take on Bowling Green.  I won’t even try to hype the game up.  The Irish should clearly win the game.  The only question is by how much.

I just see too much suspense in this game.  How much ND wins by will be a matter of how excited they are to play the game, and how prepared they are mentally to execute.  Brian Kelly said on Thursday that he was very proud of his team and how they came to work this week.  Hopefully he’s right and it’s an easy ride on Saturday.

I’m sure Kelly, and offensive coordinator, Chip Long, would love to see the offense explode this week, and so would Irish fans.  I’d like to see a healthy dose of both running and passing on Saturday.  They could use the work on both at this point.

I see the Irish starting fast in this game and then losing interest.  Kelly will want to keep it respectable as well for his former coach, Bryan VanGorder.

I knew this was a mismatch, but when I saw the Vegas point spread, I thought it was a misprint.

46 points have to be the most the Irish have been favored by in decades. After a closer look at the Falcons, it’s easy to see why.

Still, 46 is a lot of points…a whole lot.

And while the Irish will roll through this one, there’s no need for them to chase the cover.

They could if they wanted to, but I expect the offense to get back on track and the defense to continue rolling for about two and a half quarters before the starters are replaced by backups and youngsters.

The only question is whether there will be more or less Irish fans calling for more Phil Jurkovec after Saturday.

Bowling Green is in contention for the worst team that the Irish have played since Brian Kelly has been at Notre Dame. Statistically, they are bad on offense, defense, and special teams.

Instead of adding things during their open week, they scaled back because they have struggled to execute simple plays. Right now they are a bad football team and are also incredibly overmatched against Notre Dame in the talent department.

I see the Irish taking care of business early and Bowling Green folding early as well. With the way multiple contributors made plays on defense last week, I don't see any reason that won't continue with the Irish forcing a few turnovers in a blowout victory that is over by halftime.
