Calvin Official Coming...Just Later
Jamire Calvin was looking at taking an official visit to Notre Dame for this weekend’s game against Miami, but the 2017 California is going to have to push that back a bit.
“Not this weekend,” Calvin said. “I actually have to reschedule.
“It seemed like there’s a chance of having bad weather out there and something came up as well.”
The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder from Los Angeles isn’t sure when he’ll reschedule.
“Not yet,” he said. “I’m trying to figure that out.”
But he says he will reschedule “for sure.”
After this weekend, the Irish have one home game remaining, the Nov. 19th matchup with Virginia Tech, which would provide another opportunity for Calvin to visit, but necessarily his last.
“I wanted to take it for a game, but if not, I’m fine with taking it after the season,” he said.
The Irish dropped in on Calvin at Cathedral High School during their bye week and he spoke with them on the phone afterward.
“They’re just trying to get me out there,” he said of the Irish’s pitch. “We talked a little, more so about getting a trip set up and everything and just having a great game, staying focused and stuff like that.”
Notre Dame Associate Head Coach Mike Denbrock is leading up Notre Dame’s recruitment of Calvin.
“He just wants me to get out there so I can see it all,” said Calvin.
The wideout made an unofficial visit to Notre Dame last fall, but is looking forward to getting to South Bend for his official.
“Just the environment, how it is in person for gametime situations, stuff like that,” he said. “Just seeing if I could see myself there for the next four to five years.”
He took an official visit to Nebraska in September and took another to Oregon State earlier this month.
“It was a great trip,” he said of his most recent official. “I enjoyed it a lot. It was really fun.”
Calvin hasn’t figured out where he’ll take his final two officials.
“I’m not really sure yet,” he said. “I’m hoping to find that out soon though.”
But he does know what he’s looking for.
“Just the best opportunity and finding a second home where I’m comfortable with the coaches and the environment,” he said.
And he does know when he’ll announce his final decision.
“I’m committing at the Army Game.”
