6 Thoughts on a Thursday

October 10, 2019

There are a bunch of different themes for USC football in 2019. Describing something like a roller coaster seems like a cliche, but it actually fits with how things have gone for them.

Let’s go through the list:

- Hire Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator, which is praised by almost everyone

- Lose Kingsbury to the NFL before he coaches a practice at USC

- Hire another Air Raid disciple in Graham Harrell to run their offense

- 5-star wide receiver Bru McCoy transfers to Texas before playing a game for USC

- 5-star wide receiver Bru McCoy transfers back to USC before playing a game for Texas

- Win at home against Fresno State to start the season, but lose starting quarterback JT Daniels for the season

- Beat Stanford at home on the strength of the performance of true freshman Kedon Slovis at quarterback

- Lose to BYU on the road with Slovis throwing three picks

- Lose Slovis to a concussion in the Utah game, but beat the Utes at home with third-string quarterback Matt Fink putting up monster numbers

- Lose to Washington on the road with Fink throwing three picks

- 5-star wide receiver Bru McCoy transfers back to Texas before he can play a game for USC

Okay, the last one I made up, but you might have thought twice about it because that’s the kind of thing that USC has gone through in 2019.
