2022 RB Nicholas Singleton's First Impression Of Notre Dame Is Positive
Nicholas Singleton got his first look at Notre Dame on Saturday and the 2022 Pennsylvania running back liked what he saw.
“It went good,” the 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore said. “I talked with the coaches and all. I saw a lot of campus. It was a great time. I was glad to be invited.”
The Governor Mifflin High School standout already has offers from schools like Penn State, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers among others.
Singleton had the chance to speak with Irish running backs coach Lance Taylor prior to the Irish’s game against USC.
“He told me how he liked me, how I was a good player, liked my size and my speed,” Singleton said of Taylor. “It felt great being talked to by the running backs coach from a big school. I was real blessed to hear that from him.
“He’s a great person, I can tell. He’s a nice coach. He’s a great person.”
Singleton was impressed with the campus in South Bend.
“People from my school told me the campus was nice and what I saw was outstanding,” he said. “It’s a great campus.”
He was only able to stay at the game until halftime, but liked what he saw.
“It was real nice,” he said. “We couldn’t even find our seats, that’s how packed it was.
“It was amazing. It was so packed. We had to stand up. The fans are crazy. It was a great atmosphere.”
Singleton was able to picture himself in that atmosphere and in that huddle.
“I could see playing in front of that many people, in that type of game, yeah,” he said.
“(The offense) would fit me well because the running backs get the ball a lot and the line blocks pretty good. I could see myself being there.”
Singleton has some other visits coming up this fall, specifically trips to Penn State, Temple, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. He’s already thinking about a return to South Bend down the road.
“After the season, we might go up and see the campus more because we didn’t get a chance to see the whole campus,” he said. “I saw some of the campus, so after the season, we might come out and talk to the coaches and see the whole campus.”
What’s Singleton’s impression of Notre Dame after his first visit?
“It’s real positive.”
