Notre Dame receiver Michael Young Jr. has entered his name in the Transfer Portal according to a source.

The junior from Destrehan (La.) will have two years of eligibility remaining as he’ll use this year as a redshirt season. Young missed the first three games of the year due to a broken collarbone.

Young had an impressive spring and fall camp before the injury and Notre Dame never quite got him involved in the offense outside of screen passes or opening up the field for others. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder recorded six catches for 21 yards in three games for the Irish this season.

As a sophomore, Young caught seven passes for 138 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown (Northwestern) and a 66-yard screen against Wake Forest.

Young played in just three games as a freshman, where he made four receptions for 18 yards that included a touchdown against LSU in the Citrus Bowl.

Young is expected to remain on campus through the spring (possibly summer) to earn his degree from Notre Dame.

Stay tuned with IrishSportsDaily.com for more on Young’s decision to enter the Transfer Portal.
