2021 Long Beach Poly CB Kam Blanton Loved Notre Dame
2021 Long Beach Poly (Calif.) cornerback Kamren Blanton made the trip from the West Coast to South Bend over the weekend and it didn't disappoint.
"It was very special," Blanton stated. "The whole atmosphere was amazing. The energy inside the stadium was crazy. I loved it."
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder saw the Irish pull out a close victory over Virginia Tech after things got intense inside Notre Dame Stadium in the fourth quarter.
"Notre Dame was different," explained Blanton. "I felt the energy of the crowd and the whole city behind it. I felt how much they love the football team. I felt the passion."
The Irish defense stuck out to the California native as he was able to see guys fly to the football.
"The whole defense was flying around," said Blanton. "They were physical and making tackles. It was crazy.
"Watching the DBs, they were all fast and all over the place. I loved it."
Clark Lea had his cornerbacks on islands all day and it was an attractive strategy to Blanton.
"That's my favorite type of playstyle," Blanton said. "Man-to-man, right in the receivers face and jamming them."
Blanton was also able to speak with Todd Lyght and Del Alexander before the game.
"We were talking about how the school is in general and how the football team was doing," Blanton said of his conversation with Lyght. "He spoke about how the game was going to go and recruiting."
As for an offer, Blanton was encouraged to know the Irish plan to keep in contact.
"I was talking to Coach Alexander about that stuff," Blanton explained. "He was saying it was kind of slow on the defensive side, but they will be on me over the next couple of months."
Notre Dame isn't the only school with early interest as Oregon, San Jose State, UNLV and Washington State are speaking with him.
Blanton has one more visit set this fall and it's to a place where he already holds on offer.
"I'll be going to Utah State in mid-November."
