Jacob Gill‍ is receiving serious college interest and even has a half-dozen offers, so the 2021 North Carolina wide receiver is getting to know some of the schools looking at him.

That process brought the 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior to South Bend this past weekend to get a look at Notre Dame for the Irish’s game against Virginia Tech.

“It went great,” Gill said of the trip. “It was a great game.

“They took us through all of the facilities. They showed us the weight room and locker room before the game. We had a pregame meal, met with the coaches, talked with the coaches. It was great.”

The Raleigh, N.C., native spoke with Notre Dame wide receivers coach Del Alexander during the trip.

“He said he liked my tape and wanted to get me back to go through some other things and that he likes me,” Gill said of his conversation with Alexander.

The Cardinal Gibbons High School standout said he will “definitely” be back, maybe for a Junior Day or a camp.

“Probably get around the campus more and be around the players more too and see how that feels,” he said of what he’d like to see next time.

Gill’s offer sheet already includes schools like North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Louisville among others. The Irish haven’t joined that list, but certainly have his attention.

“The fans, I really liked how they all show out and show up,” he said of what sticks out about Notre Dame. “The academics are really good. That really stood out to me. I really liked the facilities and the tradition of Notre Dame too.”

His next visits will be stops at North Carolina, North Carolina State and Duke.
