2021 DE Zach Myers Recaps Recent Notre Dame Stop
Zach Myers made the trip down from Illinois to South Bend to check out Notre Dame a couple weeks ago and the 2021 defensive lineman enjoyed himself.
“It went well,” the 6-foot-4, 250-pounder junior said. “It was fun. It was a good time.
“I got to go in the locker room before the game and after the game. I saw Coach give his postgame speech to the guys. I got to go on the field before the game and after the game too, it was really cool.”
The Evanston Township High School standout was impressed with the campus.
“It was really nice,” Myers said. “It looked new, but it still had the charm that you hear about from Notre Dame.”
He also enjoyed the atmosphere inside the stadium for the Irish’s last-minute 21-20 win over Virginia Tech.
“We were right in front of the student section, so we were hearing all of the chants and stuff,” he said. “It was really great. They had a great atmosphere there.”
Myers had a chance to have a brief conversation with Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston.
“He just kind of said, ‘Hi, what’s up? How you doing?’” Myers explained. “We talked a little bit about football and what Notre Dame has to offer.”
A couple weeks back, Myers notched his first scholarship offer, from Louisville.
“It was crazy,” he acknowledged. “It was awesome. I talked to the coaches there. They really like my film. It was surreal and just motivated me to work harder.
He’s planning to visit Iowa soon, but would love to return to Notre Dame.
“I’m definitely going to try to stay in touch with them and I’d totally be down to come back down.”
