2022 WR Tommy Winton Checks Out Notre Dame
Tommy Winton got a chance to check out Notre Dame on Saturday and now the 2022 Tennessee wide receiver will wait to see what’s next for him and the Irish.
“It was pretty good,” the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder from Knoxville said. “It was nice seeing the campus and stuff.
“We saw the new indoor facilities and they were telling us about it.”
The Knoxville Catholic High School standout (pictured far right) has early offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State among others.
He enjoyed the atmosphere for the Irish’s 52-20 win over Navy.
“It was nice,” Winton said. “It was shocking to know that was the first game that hadn’t sold out in like 200-something games.
“They dominated the entire thing. It wasn’t even close.”
Winton was keeping an eye on the Irish’s use of slot receivers and while Chase Claypool dominated the share of action, he did notice Chris Finke.
“He definitely put some highlight plays up,” Winton said of Finke.
He didn’t get much time to speak to any of the staff members following the game, so Winton will wait to hear from the Irish moving forward.
“I didn’t really get to talk to any coaches about how they feel about me, so I don’t know where I stand with them,” he acknowledged.
He has a couple more trips planned.
“Next week, I go to Virginia Tech to watch them play Pitt. The week after that, I’ll go to Tennessee to watch them play Vandy.”
