Jeffrey Davis‍ and Notre Dame had communicated “a long time ago” and the 2021 Connecticut athlete and his family decided they wanted to get to South Bend at some point.

While, that some point is now, or more specifically, Saturday when Davis will be in attendance for the Irish’s home finale against Boston College.

“Just this past week, I got in contact with one of their recruiting directors there and we finalized it,” the 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior said.

“I’ve always been interested in the culture there and what they possess, they’re an independent school. Something about them, I’ve always been interested in. I’ve always followed them as a program. I kind of want to learn more, so my family and I decided to go over there and see what it’s about to meet the coaching staff.”

The Kingswood-Oxford School standout already has several Power Five offers from schools like Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Purdue, Boston College and Syracuse among others.

“It’s obviously a blessing,” Davis said. “I’ve worked hard for it my whole life, none of it was given. It’s really cool to know my parents don’t have to pay for college and stuff like that. That’s something I’ve always wanted to have.”

Coaches are looking at Davis at both receiver and defensive back for the next level.

“The first thing they say is my catching ability,” Davis said of what he’s heard from college coaches. “The biggest thing for me is my speed and catch radius and ability to track down the ball and go get it.”

Davis, who has unofficially clocked a sub-4.4 time in the 40-yard dash, one of the state’s most acclaimed trainers and mentors, Stanley ‘Stack’ Williams.

“He helps me immensely; physically and he also helps me mentally, preparing me for the process and college,” Davis said of Williams. “He trains me and gets me better at both defensive back and wide receiver and weight training as well.”

After visits to Boston College, UConn and Penn State this fall, Davis is planning to be at Syracuse next week, but doesn’t have anything else locked in beyond that.

“That’s the only one I have planned right now, but obviously in the next couple months, I want to start thinking about official visits, but that will come.”
