It’s not easy to pick a college when you’re a top recruit with several options, but Brock Wright’s decision to commit to Notre Dame on Friday ended up being about as easy as it gets.

“At first, when I was thinking about it, I was thinking it was kind of a difficult decision, but the more thought about it, I realized, ‘This is the place for me, this is where I really want to go,’” the 2017 Texas tight end told Irish Sports Daily shortly after making his decision.

“I know I wouldn’t be happy anywhere else.”

Wright received an offer from the Irish during an unofficial visit to South Bend back in March and returned for another visit last weekend, which helped seal the deal.

“I was just able to see the campus a little more, get a better feel for it and also get a chance to talk to the coaches, to get close with them and speak with them about our future,” he said.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder from Cy-Fair also had offers from schools like Alabama, Baylor, Michigan, Texas A&M, Duke, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and UCLA among others.

He acknowledged Notre Dame’s tradition of producing top tight ends was a major factor in his decision.

“That played a huge role,” said Wright. “It was one of the biggest things in drawing my attention to Notre Dame, so I couldn’t be happier.

“I’m going to play hard, I’m aggressive and I always will be and I’ll give 100 percent all of the time.”

Wright joins offensive lineman Dillan Gibbons to give the Irish two pledges in the 2017 recruiting class and the tight end plans to help increase that number.

“I’m just going to try to build up Notre Dame a little bit and get us some firepower in the future,” he said.

Wright spent time with 2017 Indiana quarterback Hunter Johnson, Notre Dame’s top target, this past weekend and will be in his ear.

“That’s the primary target there,” he said

For himself, Wright is comfortable and excited about his decision.

“It’s always been my favorite school. Everything about it felt right. I know it’s the place I want to be.”
