Tight end Brock Wright committed to Notre Dame last June and made a return trip to South Bend this past weekend for the Blue-Gold Game. It was the first time since Irish Invasion the four-star had been back on campus and it didn’t disappoint the Cy-Fair (Texas) star.

“It was awesome,” Wright told Irish Sports Daily. “It was a great trip. I didn’t necessarily see anything I hadn’t seen before. I was able to meet with the coaches again and that was great to continue to build that relationship.

“We were talking about everything. It was good to catch up with them. They weren’t really recruiting me anymore because it’s basically a done deal. It was good just to catch up with them and talk about getting ready for next year.”

Next year was the topic of conversation, as the big news for the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder was speaking to the Notre Dame Admissions Office about enrolling early. It had been something on his mind for the last few months and Wright will go forward with getting to South Bend next January.

“We were actually able to meet with the Head of Admissions,” stated Wright. “My plan now is to graduate early and enroll early up there, so I can be going through spring ball this time next year.

“I was kind of thinking about it beforehand. I think rather than staying my last semester of senior year, where I wouldn’t really be doing a while lot, besides working out. I think it’d be better to go ahead and get up there early to get used to working in the system and school.”

“I think they were fired up,” Wright said of the Notre Dame coaching staff. “I think they see it as a very beneficial thing to get guys up there early and to start working with them early. I am really looking forward to that.”

Wright also made the return trip to start building relationships with other members of his recruiting class, which included offensive lineman Josh Lugg and defensive tackle Kurt Hinish.

“It was the first time to meet Josh and Kurt, so it was awesome to hang out with those guys,” Wright explained. “They are great and I know we are going to have a really good class. We are all looking forward to that.

“I think we all have similar personalities and that’s a cool thing about schools like Notre Dame. The kids they attract as a program are all very similar in our mindset and it’s really one of the big reason I chose Notre Dame. I know going there I will have people around that have the same mindset, beliefs and we will have the same goals.”

The Texas native also got a chance to meet 2017 five-star defensive lineman Josh Kaindoh and while the two didn’t spend a lot of time together, Wright knows the IMG Academy star would be a nice addition to the class.

“I just introduced myself, but I didn’t really get a chance to talk to him much,” said Wright. “It seemed like he had a good time up there and hopefully he will get back up to visit again.”
