It started off with a bang with seven games of over 300 yards rushing or more in his first nine calling plays for Notre Dame. Even when that was happening, it never truly seemed like the right fit for Chip Long in South Bend.

Whether it was his personality on and off the field or him being a little too honest assessing his players while talking to broadcast crews, I didn’t think he really seemed like someone who was going to thrive in the long term at Notre Dame.
