Recruitment Rundown
Bauman quickly identified Notre Dame as the fit he was looking for. The New Jersey product received his offer from the Irish in May of 2018, scheduled a visit to South Bend a couple weeks later and by June 13th, he’d announced his commitment to Notre Dame. Bauman was the second prospect to join the class, only Drew Pyne has been committed longer.
Bauman chose the Irish over offers from Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia among others. He said he was 100 percent sure of his decision at the time and that proved to be the case.

“A kid with that kind of size and that raw athleticism and body control, I’ve never seen a kid at this level with that natural of catch skills. Obviously, he has a big catch-radius, but he knows how to use his body, how to adjust to the ball, how to take the basketball court to the football field when he catches the ball in traffic. What’s magnified all of that is the fact that he’s transformed his body. He’s gotten stronger...His speed has increased. When you look at that combination of size, athleticism and sheer talent, he makes me look a heckuva lot smarter than I really am.”

Bauman is one of those prospects who committed so early and the film on him has been limited since then that the buzz about him as a prospect has died down. His size and speed combined with the flashes he shown as pass-catcher are why no one should sleep on his potential, though.
Michael Mayer should make more of an immediate impact, but Bauman fits the profile of a someone who can develop into a solid in-line option for Notre Dame.
