There might not be a more intriguing prospect in the 2021 class than Queen Creek (Ariz.) safety Krew Jackson.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder plays safety now, but could grow into an outside backer.

Notre Dame is well-aware of Jackson and safeties coach Terry Joseph made sure to check on him last week.

"It was awesome he came all the way out," stated Jackson. "Notre Dame is an awesome school to be at our school."

Jackson was well-aware of Notre Dame prestige on and off the football field before Joseph made the stop.

"I think the academic part is very important," explained Jackson. "Not everyone makes it to the league. Having good academics is really important to have a stable life after football.

"I was familiar with Notre Dame. A bunch of kids are fans at my school. Notre Dame has a big football presence and I've seen them on TV."

The Arizona native holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, BYU, Iowa State and Washington State.

It will be fascinating to see what position Jackson ends up playing in college as some would have projected Kyle Hamilton to end up at linebacker at this stage of his recruitment.

"Right now, I've been playing safety," said Jackson. "Most schools are talking about putting some weight on me and playing me at outside linebacker.

"I really like playing safety and it would be awesome to play safety. I wouldn't mind playing linebacker. I really love to hit. I love both of them."

Jackson has the traits to play either, so he's focused on improving his all-around game this offseason.

"My tackling has been pretty good and the ability to read the field is good," Jackson stated.

"I can work on my ball skills and my man defense."

While his recruitment is just heating up, Jackson took two visits this fall to see the in-state programs.

"I was able to go to Arizona State for an unofficial visit, which was pretty easy living here," Jackson said. "I went and watched Arizona too. Just some in-state stuff."

Jackson does plan to get out in 2020 to see some out of state programs and Notre Dame very could get a visit.

"I think I'll be able to get a few," stated Jackson. "I'm not sure how many or where, but I might be able to get a few visits in.

"I would love to get out there. If I visit anywhere outside of the state, I think Notre Dame might be a possibility."

As far as leaving Arizona for school, Jackson has no problem with it.

"I have no problem leaving the state," said Jackson. "It's always good to get some outside life experiences out of state.

"It'd be fun to play in a different environment."
