Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet is headed to the 2020 NFL Draft as the junior declared on Thursday.

Kmet's decision comes as no surprise as the 6-foot-6, 250-pounder is the top-ranked tight end on most NFL Draft boards with Penn State's Pat Freiermuth electing to stay in school.

2019 was Kmet's first year in a starting role and he took advantage of it with 43 receptions for 515 yards and six touchdowns in just 10 games.

Kmet missed the first three games of 2019 as he recovered from a broken collarbone. However, he put up a career-high nine catches for 108 yards and one touchdown in his first game back against Georgia.

The Illinois native will end his Notre Dame career with  60 receptions for 691 yards and six touchdowns.
