Ewell Talks ND, Rudy & Style Of Play
“Earlier today my head coach, Hank Sawyer, spoke to Notre Dame,” Ewell told Irish Sports Daily. “In the middle of the day, he told me about the offer and I hit them back up with a call. I got to speak to Notre Dame and confirmed that I had an offer.”
The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder was pretty excited to speak to Booker, but the first thing that crossed his mind was a movie.
“To tell you the truth, the first thing that popped into my mind was the movie ‘Rudy’,” laughed Ewell. “It’s like this is Notre Dame. Growing up, just about everybody would dream of going to Notre Dame. It’s a really great school.”
The four-star prospect holds 32 offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
Ewell is taking the process slow and making sure he sees everything he needs to see.
“Right now, I am taking a look at everything,” he explained. “I want to see all of my opportunities. Notre Dame is pretty high up there with a couple other schools. I just want to take in every opportunity. I want to get a feel for everything.
“My focus is on these two camps coming up next week and the week after. Once I am done with those, I am going to look at visiting a couple schools.”
On film, Ewell is a man amongst boys, but that isn’t stopping him from preparing for the next level.
“I just feel it,” Ewell said of his style of play. “I think of everything every coach taught me and I try to incorporate it into what I do. I see myself and I really see myself going fast and strong. Right now, I think I am really strong for the high school level. I am trying to prepare for the next level. At the next level, I will have to come up with something up my sleeve, so I am trying to build my game.”
As far as a decision date, the Virginia native is keeping things close to the vest.
“I’ll tell what everyone else will get,” stated Ewell. “It could be next week, next month, or it could be on National Signing Day. It’s my choice and I know my family will back me up 100-percent, as well as my coach and teammates. It’s really up to me.”
