WR Jay Brunelle To Be Sidelined For The Spring
Irish Sports Daily has learned that Notre Dame wide receiver Jay Brunelle will be sidelined this spring after undergoing surgery to repair a shoulder injury that occurred during his final season at St. John’s High School.
The Massachusetts native enrolled at Notre Dame in January and the decision was made to get it fixed now after consulting with team doctors.
It’s surely disappointing for an early enrollee to miss his first spring practice, which was clearly a major reason why Brunelle decided to graduate high school early. But he’s expected to be cleared by the start of fall camp.
He should also be able to use the first semester on campus to get adjusted to college life, academics and to dive into the Irish’s playbook while also being able to participate in some team workouts.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder caught 52 passes for 1,071 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior. He chose Notre Dame over an offer from Michigan and several others.
He’s one of eight early enrollees in Notre Dame’s 2020 recruiting class.
