It didn’t take long for 2017 Bishop Moore (Fla.) defensive end Jonathan MacCollister to get a Notre Dame offer after defensive line coach Keith Gilmore watched him practice last week. Gilmore extended the offer to the three-star prospect on Monday evening.

“I was talking to Coach Gilmore on the phone and he offered me,” the 6-foot-5, 255-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “It was kind of an unbelievable feeling because of how amazing the program is. I was just really thrilled. It was a big one and I have been waiting for that one.”

The offer was big for many reason, but the chance to play with his teammate Parker Boudreaux might have been the most exciting.

“I FaceTimed Parker as soon as I got off the phone,” laughed MacCollister. “He was shocked. He was like ‘Are you serious’? It was so cool.”

With Gilmore making a stop at his high school, MacCollister has been thinking about visiting Notre Dame ever since. Now that he has an offer, it’s only a matter of time before he sets foot on campus.

“I have definitely been thinking about visiting since Coach Gilmore visited last week,” explained MacCollister. “They have now moved up really high on my scale and I definitely will be visiting the school. I did get an invite to Irish Invasion and I am going to try to get up there. I think my coach is going to be up there too. “

Hornets head coach Matt Hedrick’s dream was to send one of his players to Notre Dame and now he could have two in two years.

“He would definitely like me to go to Notre Dame,” MacCollister laughed. “It’d be crazy if we both went to Notre Dame.”
