Coach | 2021 LB Aidan Hubbard Checks The Boxes
After visiting Notre Dame for the Boston College game back in November, Aidan Hubbard will be back in South Bend for the Irish’s Junior Day on Feb. 1st.
The 2021 Ohio linebacker already has offers from Purdue, Minnesota, Toledo, Akron and Penn.
“He’s a very good student, very good student first of all,” famed St. Ignatius High School head coach Chuck Kyle says of Hubbard. “He fits that category very well.
“He’s a young man who is still growing and filling out. He’s all of 6-4. He’s athletic. He’s on the basketball team. He’s an athletic guy.”
Kyle says they play the 6-foot-4, 218-pounder at outside linebacker.
“Which I think translates at the next level as a dropoff end who can either rush or drop off to cover the flat or take the back,” the coach continues. “He’s athletic enough to do that. He has the tools to do really well on the next level.
“He’s still getting stronger and just developing very nicely. He’s got a huge ceiling to keep filling in, so it’s pretty exciting to see what can happen in the next few years with him.”
Off the field, Kyle describes Hubbard as “a quiet, focused guy.”
“He takes care of business,” says Kyle. “He’s not one of these guys you see running around out of control. He’s a very disciplined, focused young man. I think that’s where his work ethic catches on with the other guys. You see a lot of guys who are talented, but don’t have the kind of work ethic needed. He’s an example of a guy who takes advantage of his God-Given talent.
“‘What do you do? How do you make it better?’ He’s certainly a great example of that.”
Kyle believes Hubbard’s interest in Notre Dame is serious.
“Definitely. There’s no doubt about it in my mind. He is looking for a high-academic environment. That’s going to be very important to him and very important to his family.”
