Aidan Hubbard‍ was back in South Bend for Notre Dame’s Junior Day on Saturday and after another impressive visit – and with the encouragement of the Irish coaching staff – the 2021 Ohio linebacker plans to continue returning in the months to come.

“It was a lot of fun,” Hubbard told ISD afterward. “I had a great time.

“We got to see the Gug Athletic Complex, the indoor field. We went and saw the Bookstore and went inside an auditorium and learned about academics and all of that. Then we walked through the Basilica and the Grotto.”

The St. Ignatius standout currently has offers from Duke, Minnesota and Penn among others.

He was impressed with the academic presentation.

“It was really good,” said Hubbard. “It was everything I expected to hear from Notre Dame with it being such a great academic institution.

“Their class sizes are small. There are like 20 to 40 kids in each class compared to other schools where there are like 300 in a lecture hall. It’s just a better learning environment. You feel more at home with your teacher.”

The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder had seen most of campus before.

He enjoyed the tour of the new indoor facility.

“It’s impressive, really impressive,” he said. “It’s super nice.”

The Cleveland native also spoke with Irish defensive coordinator Clark Lea and assistant Nick Lezynski.

“I talked to Coach Lea for a little bit,” Hubbard explained. “We had individual position meetings too. I talked to Coach Lezynski, the assistant linebackers coach. They were just telling me to keep coming up and getting a feel for the culture and everything that’s going on and ‘the more you come up the better things will work out for you.’

“I really like both of them. They are great guys.”

Hubbard doesn’t have any other visits locked in now, but could get to Duke and Virginia in the spring.

He hopes to be back in South Bend this spring as well, possibly for a spring practice, to continue building those relationships.

“It just feels at home up there.”
