2023 CB Caleb Presley Eyeing Notre Dame Camp
Caleb Presley’s recruiting process is just starting, but it’s certainly started.
The 2023 Washington cornerback has received his first offer and he’s garnering preliminary interest from around the country, including an invitation to camp at Notre Dame this summer.
“It felt great,” the 6-foot, 175-pounder said of the opportunity to perform in South Bend. “I feel like I’m starting to actually get some attention from all of the work I’ve been putting in. It really feels good. I feel like my hard work is paying off.”
The Eastside Catholic High School standout knows a bit about Notre Dame already.
“I know that they’re very competitive and they’re a big school,” he said. “We’ve had a couple people from Washington get recruited there. I also know it’s a really good school.”
He said he’s “working on” the details of getting to South Bend with his parents.
“I’ve been talking with my dad and my mom, trying to figure out what dates we can get out there,” he said. “I would definitely like to learn about their curriculum to see what career path I could take, definitely how the football program is going. I’d love to meet the coaching staff and build relationships and go on.”
He’s also excited about the chance to showcase his talents in front of the Irish staff.
“I definitely think I’ll be able to show them my athletic ability,” he said. “A lot people say I’m very athletic for being so young. I’m also a student of the game. I know a lot of the coverages and how to play. I just really want to go out there and ball out.”
As a freshman, Presley started for a talented Eastside Catholic squad that was ranked nationally. That position gave him the chance to go head-to-head against future Ohio State wideout Gee Scott during practice.
“I kept getting better,” Presley said of his matchups with the 2020 All-American. “When you’re surrounded by good players, you get better every day.”
At the end of January, Presley landed his first scholarship offer from Nevada.
“That was a great feeling,” he said. “I was excited. I was like, ‘My hard work is paying off.’ But it definitely fuels the fire. I’m definitely not slowing down, all gas, no brake.”
In addition to Notre Dame, Presley is receiving interest from Cal and Stanford, two schools he’s also looking to camp at.
“The most important thing for me is picking a school that fits me. It’ll have to be family, making sure my family is comfortable in the system that I’m in and that I’ll be taken care of. Being a student definitely comes first before everything. I’m going there for school so I can get my education taken care of and be settled out.”
