2021 ATH Shakhi Carson Set To Camp At Notre Dame
Shakhi Carson has been hearing about Notre Dame for a while now and soon enough, the 2021 New Jersey athlete will get to see it.
“I’ll be out there on May 31st,” the 5-foot-9, 182-pounder from West Orange says.
“Notre Dame has been sending a lot of mail to me as part of my recruiting. Since sophomore year, they’ve been sending me camp invites. I know I didn’t get a chance to make it out there before with my teammate Jason Raines, but I’ll be there this year.”
Raines, a 2021 receiver, was in South Bend for the Navy game back in November.
Carson comes into his trip with positive feelings.
“I know Notre Dame is a really prestigious school with a good football program that is surrounded with great coaches and players,” he says. “I love their will. They do a good job with their guys.”
He’ll be participating in the Irish’s Sunday Night Lights Camp.
“I’ll be able to show them that I can potentially be a part of their program,” says Carson. “That’s my goal for every camp I go to; that I can potentially be a part of your program and make an impact.
“I know my speed is definitely one of my strengths,” he says. “I think the strongest point of my game is the mental aspect, the way I see the game around me. I feel like I have the ability to slow the game down to how I want to play.”
Carson has a half-dozen offers from schools like Kentucky and UMass.
“It’s definitely a blessing for these schools to reach out to me,” he says. “I know a lot of high school players wish they had these opportunities, so I try to take advantage every moment I get, especially with the schools I have interest from and the schools that have offered me.”
It will be a busy spring for Carson, who also plans to make stops at Virginia Tech, Michigan State, UCLA, Kentucky, Liberty, Kent State and UMass.
After this swing, he’ll begin to narrow his list.
“I’ll definitely be trying to focusing in on a couple of schools as I come down closer to a decision and hopefully decide somewhere toward the end of the summer.”
