Report | ACC Tournament Will Go On
Even after two full days of the ACC Tournament, it, like just about all other sporting events in the country at the moment, is subject to change at a moment’s notice.
After an eventful day on Wednesday, which included the suspension of the NBA season, conference tournaments throughout country seemed to be in jeopardy of continuing along with next week’s NCAA Tournament.
Late Wednesday night, Syracuse play by play announcer Matt Park reported that he was hearing the decision on whether to continue would be made by 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Irish Sports Daily touched base with a source on Notre Dame’s side of things last night and that source felt the ACC Tournament would continue, without fans as announced earlier in the day, since all of the teams were already on site in Greensboro, N.C.
On Thursday, morning CBS national reporter Jon Rothstein reported that sources were telling him the tournament would go on.
“Sources: Thursday's ACC Tournament games in Greensboro are still on as scheduled with limited attendance,” Rothstein tweeted.
Seventh-seeded Notre Dame is scheduled to play second-seeded Virginia at 7 p.m.
#1 Florida State is scheduled to kick off play against #8 Clemson at 12:30 p.m. followed by #4 Duke versus #5 NC State. #3 Louisville and #6 Syracuse are set to close the evening’s slate after the Irish and Cavaliers game.
Rothstein did add an important disclaimer.
