Notre Dame QB Brendon Clark Working on Fundamentals

April 14, 2020

Quarterback Brendon Clark is a name Notre Dame fans are going to become more familiar with as the 2020 season approaches.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pounder saw action in two games last fall where he completed his only pass for a 22-yard touchdown to Braden Lenzy.

With Phil Jurkovec off to Boston College, Clark now will turn his attention to being just one play away as he'll backup fifth-year senior Ian Book in 2020.

ABC 6 in Richmond (Va.) did a quick feature on Clark’s workouts over the last few weeks as he deals with the Covid-19 pandemic: College athletes find ways to maintain training while social distancing

"I learned a lot," Clark told ABC 6. "It is a pretty big jump as far as the speed of the game and trying to learn a whole new offense in terms of one year.

"I think it was good for me to be immersed in the speed of the game and the atmosphere of the game. I thought it was pretty beneficial. I had fun."

Malcolm Bell has become Brendon Clark's go-to guy when the Notre Dame quarterback returns home to Virginia.

Bell runs Undefeated Quarterback Training and Clark got work with him over spring break, which has now turned into weekly sessions due to the coronavirus.

The Notre Dame staff has started to conduct installs over Zoom and SWAT leaders hold weekly meetings to make sure everyone is working out, but players know they are going to get what they put into the game right now.

"The time is just different, I'm not going to wake up at 5:30 in the morning here like I would over there," Clark stated to ABC 6. "They send us our workouts that we have to do so you can kind of stay on top of everything that way."

Bell and Clark are focused on mechanics over scheme in hopes the Virginia native will be able to focus on the playbook once he returns to South Bend.

"I've always been taught you can always find a way to do something," Clark told ABC 6. "There's something you can do whether it's sitting on your couch watching film, at least it's something."
