LB Jonathan Jones Gets Graduation Letter from Notre Dame DC Clark Lea
It's graduation weekend at Notre Dame and while the University Commencement Ceremony will be online instead of on-campus, the football program is making sure its graduates are recognized.
Notre Dame has started to release videos for each graduate and as their position coach writes a letter to them.
Yes, some will be back in 2020, but it doesn't change the fact they are getting recognized for likely the biggest accomplishment of their life.
Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clark Lea wrote a letter to linebacker Jonathan Jones to celebrate the weekend.
Dear Jon,
This is Coach Lea. As I'm sure you're well aware, a degree from the University of Notre Dame is not just any degree. It's an uncommon commitment that demands great sacrifice, strong character and unrivaled discipline. You demonstrate all three of these qualities.
You have a unique gift, Jon, a relentless spirit that strengthens those around you. I'm excited to watch that spirit grow beyond our campus.
Congratulations, Jon. There is much to celebrate in this accomplishment and much more ahead for you in your journey."
Jones, a graduate transfer, will finish his career at Toledo, where he enrolled in January.
The Florida native chose Notre Dame over Michigan as a recruit and redshirted his freshman season at Notre Dame.
As a sophomore, Jones played in 13 games and registered 10 tackles and one tackle for loss.
Jones played in 25 games during his last two seasons in South Bend, where he racked up six tackles, primarily playing on special teams.
The 5-foot-11, 225-pounder will graduate with a degree from the College of Arts and Letters as he majored in Film, Television and Theatre.
