Notre Dame's Brian Kelly Can't Stop Smiling About Julian Love's Story
It's graduation weekend at Notre Dame and while the University Commencement Ceremony will be online instead of on-campus, the football program is making sure its graduates are recognized.
Notre Dame has started to release videos for each graduate and as their position coach writes a letter to them.
Yes, some will be back in 2020, but it doesn't change the fact they are getting recognized for likely the biggest accomplishment of their life.
Head football coach Brian Kelly wrote a letter to former corneback Julian Love, who enters his second year with the New York Giants.
Julian, it's Coach.
Think back to your story with Notre Dame, a boyhood dream come true.
You came here to South Bend to grow in football and in life. And you smiled the whole way through.
And look where the story is now. A beloved NFL playmaker returns to his alma mater to finish his degree. Now, I can't stop smiling.
Congratulations, Julian. Go Irish.
The New York Giants defensive back played in 15 games as a rookie in 2019. Love recorded 37 tackles, one interception and three passes defended as a cornerback and safety.
Love played in 38 games during his time at Notre Dame, including 34 starts and the leader in career break-ups for the Irish was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award in 2019.
During his time in South Bend, Love made 176 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 39 passes defended, four fumble recoveries and scored two touchdowns.
Love will graduate from the Mendoza College of Business with a major in Management Consulting.
