Notre Dame will get another tough task on Tuesday evening in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa is coming off back-to-back losses to Virginia (74-41) and Memphis (100-92). In the Emerald Coast Classic.
Mike Brey’s squad will look to stop Peter Jok, who is a scoring machine through the first six games of the 2016-17, as he is averaging 25.3 points per game. The 6-foot-6 senior is coming off a 42-point performance against Memphis where he went 8 of 11 from three-point range, but also 12 of 12 from the foul line.
Iowa will shoot the three ball without hesitation on Tuesday, as they are making 10.5 per game and Jok takes 8.8 three’s a game, so he is someone Brey will absolutely game plan around.
On the offensive end, Notre Dame should be able to have their way with the Iowa defense, so it will just come down to taking and making good shots. The Hawkeyes start two freshmen in the starting lineup in the post, so it will be interesting to see where Notre Dame feels they have the advantage on the offensive end of the floor.
It will also be interesting to see where Matt Ryan fits into the game plan on the offensive end. The sophomore forward hit seven three-pointers on Saturday against Chicago State and I would imagine Brey would get him in early to see if he is still hot.
