Notre Dame senior running back Mick Assaf has made a tough decision as he will step away from football to turn his focus towards his career.

Assaf started Yoke Gaming, an app where you can play video games with athletes, earlier this year and pass on a fifth season in the blue and gold.

The Atlanta native played in 13 games as a senior in 2019 and was named the Walk-On Player of the Year at the awards banquet.

Assaf ran nine times for 34 yards last fall for the Irish.

He announced his decision on Instagram a few moments ago with this note to Notre Dame fans.

Dear Notre Dame…⁣

⁣Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Through the wins, the losses, the good times, and the bad… it has been the experience of a lifetime to play football at the University of Notre Dame. This team taught me what it means to be a part of something that is so much bigger than any one individual. This team taught me what it feels like to build success on a foundation of failures. Ultimately, this team taught me that an individual person will never be at their best until they experience the love of a team. ⁣

I have loved this team and program over the past four years more than anything else in my life. I will always be grateful to have been a part of the greatest brotherhood in the world. Thank you to my family for always supporting me. Thank you to my coaches for giving me a chance to be myself and be a part of something that matters. Thank you to Notre Dame for allowing me to experience the pinnacle of what it means to be a student-athlete. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to achieve my childhood dream of playing football at the highest level while also setting me up for the challenge that lies ahead with Yoke Gaming.

As I move on from ND football to pursue Yoke Gaming full-time, I will always keep this team and university close to my heart. I will never be able to properly convey my gratitude but will always do my best to make this program proud of the man that they have shaped. I promise to bring the same love, energy, and commitment that exists within our program to this next challenge that I face. I will always believe that the secret is in the dirt and that there is no place like Notre Dame.⁣
