Notre Dame continues to keep momentum on the recruiting trail as the Irish have flipped 2021 Los Gatos (Calif.) defensive end Will Schweitzer‍ from Nebraska. In fact, we’re told Schweitzer had told the Irish staff he was coming earlier in the week.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder committed to the Cornhuskers in June and holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Duke, Harvard, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Oregon State, Princeton, Syracuse, TCU, UNLV, Utah, Virginia, Washington State and others.

Schweitzer could project at the Vyper position as has pass-rushing traits as he can run and shows explosion in his game. The California native could also potentially grow into a strongside defensive end as he has a frame to put on weight.

“I think his one of his biggest assets is that speed that he plays,” Los Gatos head coach Mark Krail told HailVarsity.com at the time of his commitment. “He plays fast and physical and he's fearless. I think that that was a big part of the recruiting process for coaches that were watching his film because he doesn't take plays off and he plays super fast. I think that's one of the things that really jumps out with Will.”

Schweitzer has recorded 218 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and six sacks over the last two seasons.
