BREAKING | 2022 Four-Star LB Nolan Ziegler Commits to Notre Dame
It took 15 days for Notre Dame to land a commitment from 2022 Catholic Central (Mich.) linebacker Nolan Ziegler.
The Irish offered the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder on August 6 and Ziegler committed to the Irish on August 22.
Notre Dame has a special place in Ziegler's heart because his family has a deep history with the University. His grandfather (Tim Sullivan) and uncle (Fred Trosko Jr.) played on the 1973 team while other family members have attended the school, including his grandmother. The family also has season tickets, so those might become a hot item over the next few years.
And it wasn't a surprise the Michigan native was a little emotional when he got the offer from Notre Dame.
"I was a little emotional," Ziegler said. "It's crazy just going there as a kid and always wanting to there or play somewhere big,"
Ziegler projects at Rover for the Irish with his size and ability to play in space.
"It's their strong safety/outside linebacker position," stated Ziegler. "I have a lot of power coming from my legs. I can come up and hit guys, but also cover in space, so that's big. Overall, I can make plays on the field."
The four-star prospect makes up the third commitment in the 2022 class for Notre Dame as he’ll join tight end Jack Nickel and offensive lineman Joey Tanona.
This recruitment was also one where technology was involved as the Irish wanted Ziegler to camp, but COVID-19 prevented it from happening. Ziegler took matters into his own hands and worked out to show Notre Dame and other programs what he was able to do on the field.
Offers: Boston College, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Toledo, Virginia Tech and Western Michigan
