As far as Carl Reed is concerned, Toriano Pride‍ has just about everything a coach could want in a cornerback.

“He has elite speed,” the Lutheran North High School head coach says of Pride, a 2022 Missouri cornerback. “He has great coverage skills. He can play press-man, can play off-man. He’s great in space. He’s the total package as a corner.

“He’s about far along as you’re going to find at that position. If he continues to learn the nuances and all of the different coverages that can be played, he’s going to do even more things.”

Pride is just as impressive off the field, according to Reed.

“He’s a great kid, great leader,” his coach says. “He comes from a great family. I couldn’t say enough positive things about him.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder’s offer list has grown in the last week, when he added Notre Dame to it.

“It was definitely exciting for him because you’re talking about one of the premier programs in the nation,” says Reed. “Any time a school like Notre Dame likes you enough as a player to offer you a scholarship, it’s something you have to look hard at.”

He added Oklahoma to the list on Tuesday. Pride’s offer sheet also includes schools like Missouri, Ohio State, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State and West Virginia among others.

Reed expects Pride to try to get down to South Bend for a visit when he can.

“At some point, whenever it’s allowed, I think he would definitely get up there on campus and get a chance to sit down with Coach (Brian) Kelly and Coach (Mike) Mickens and see what kind of option it really is for him.”
