2022 Hoops Target Donovan Clingan Talks Notre Dame Virtual Visit
The communication between Donovan Clingan and the Notre Dame basketball program is pretty positive at this point.
“I’ve been in contact with the coaching staff, the whole staff there,” the 7-footer from Connecticut said of the Irish. “They asked me if I had time to do a Zoom and I said yes, so we did it.”
Notre Dame and the Bristol Central High School star hopped on the Zoom for a virtual visit earlier this month.
“It was good,” said Clingan. “It wasn’t long. It was just introducing the staff and going through a virtual tour of the campus and everything. We were just talking about what’s going on with the season and all of that stuff.”
Clingan, who was the first prospect in the Class of 2022 to receive an offer from the Irish, enjoyed getting a peek at the campus in South Bend.
“It was cool,” he said. “It was really cool. It looked really big. I’d love to just go visit there and see what it’s like in person. Over the camera, you can only see so much.”
Irish assistant Rod Balanis has been leading the charge with Clingan for Notre Dame and set a good first impression for the staff as a whole.
“I liked them all,” he said. “The coaches were really cool.”
Clingan’s offer sheet also includes schools like Michigan State, Syracuse, Maryland, Georgetown, Iowa, UConn, UMass, Boston College and Providence among others.
“Now that I’m getting recruited by schools, I wish college basketball was going on, so I could watch games and see what teams were doing and how they were playing,” he said.
He isn’t claiming any leaders just yet and stays in touch with just about everybody.
“Pretty much all of the schools I’ve gotten offers from.”
