Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator Candidates

When Brian Kelly announced his first staff at Notre Dame, no one was praising Bob Diaco as great hire. He was a 37 year old with one year of experience calling a defense. That one year was a pretty good one in terms of wins and losses at Cincinnati, but his defense was 69th in 3rd down defense and 112th in red zone touchdown percentage. Those kind of numbers in those two categories usually are a pretty good indicator that a defensive coordinator isn't going to be very successful.
