Terrence Edwards works with some of the best pass-catchers in the state of Georgia as the owner of TE/WR Academy, but the former University of Georgia receiver has had even more time with Jayden Thomas‍ as receiver coach for Pace Academy in Atlanta.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Thomas has been dealing with a lingering foot injury all offseason, but Edwards doesn’t seem concerned.

“He’s getting better,” said Edwards, noting that Thomas would play in Pace’s next game even if on a “limited basis.”

“We’re just going to work him back in gradually to where he can get back to 100 percent.”

Edwards understands exactly what Thomas is when he is at 100 percent.

“He’s another big-body guy,” the coach says. “He’s 6-2, 205 right now, big-body guy who is a great route-runner to be that size. He’s able to drop his hips and get in and out of his breaks. Anything that is in the air, he goes up and gets it. He has a great catch radius as well.”

Thomas narrowed his list to five schools over the summer – Notre Dame, Georgia, Arkansas, Michigan and Penn State. He’s since talked about the Irish, Bulldogs and Razorbacks as the schools he’s talking to most.

It’s clear Thomas, who plans to play both football and baseball in college, is nearing the end of the recruiting process and seems confident as he gets closer to his decision.

Thomas hasn’t publicly named a leader, but the Irish seem to be in as strong a position as anybody to land him, if not stronger.

Edwards also trains Notre Dame receiver target Deion Colzie and gave both Colzie and Thomas about the highest compliment a man can give a younger man.

“I have a daughter and if my daughter is of age, those are two young men who I wouldn’t mind her dating. These are the types of kids that you’d want your daughter to bring home.”
