One of the philosophies that Brian Kelly brought with him from his previous coaching stops was that time of possession was not something he cared much about. His final team with Cincinnati was last in the nation in time of possession. It obviously didn't affect the results on the field too much as that squad finished 12-0 in the regular season.

That was the right strategy for that team. No one could argue that it wasn't considering how prolific they were on offense.
